Description:
The American University of Sharjah, an internationally ranked and accredited
American-style university of 6000 students in the United Arab Emirates, seeks
full-time faculty members in Linguistics or Applied Linguistics to teach
courses in the undergraduate Language program, General Education, Academic
Writing, and ESP, as well as in the MATESOL program, in the Department of
English. Candidates should hold a completed Ph.D. in Linguistics or Applied
Linguistics. Applicants with specialization in such areas as
Sociolinguistics, TESOL, Cognitive Linguistics, Second Language Acquisition
and Forensic Linguistics are especially welcome.
Successful candidates will have a strong record of excellence in teaching,
ongoing scholarly publication, and a demonstrated commitment to productive
institutional service. As a university formed on American models, AUS will
give priority to candidates who have substantial experience in American models
of higher education.
