Meeting Description: 

The English Graduate Program (PPGI) and the Linguistics Graduate Program
(PPGLin) from Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC), Florianópolis,
SC, Brazil have the honor to announce that the III Encontro Internacional de
Sintaxe e Semântica & Interfaces , 3 EISSI - Syntax, Semantics, Interfaces &
Cognition , invites professor Luigi Rizzi, from Universities of Geneva
(Switzerland) and Siena (Italy), professor Angelika Kratzer from University of
Massachusetts, Amherst (USA), and professor Ina Emmel from UFSC to discuss
contemporary syntax and semantics and their relation to cognition.
 
The Meeting will be held from June 25 to June 29, 2018 , at Universidade
Federal de Santa Catarina - UFSC -, in Florianópolis, SC, Brazil. The
Conference, June 27-29, accepts up to 22 communications, and 90 posters. It is
preceded by a two day school where the invited speakers will talk about their
research. Participants receive certificates of 8-hour credits for each one of
the mini-courses. The school is from the 25 to the 26. Please check the
website for the program and further information.
 

Call for Papers:

We invite abstract submissions, for 30 minutes talks or poster sessions,
devoted to theoretical approaches to natural language syntax, semantics, and
interfaces - especially topic-focus, and modality -, and their relation to
cognition, including experimental researches.

Abstracts should contain original research that, at the time of submission,
has neither been published nor accepted for publication. One person can submit
at most one abstract as sole author and one abstract as co-author; or two
co-authored abstracts. They must be anonymous, in PDF format, 2 pages (A4 or
letter), in a font size no less than 12pt, and with margins of 1 inch/2.5cm,
including references. Please submit abstracts via EasyChair
(https://easychair.org/cfp/3eissi)  no later than February 28, 2018. When you
submit your abstract, you will be asked to indicate whether you would like it
to be considered for a talk, a poster or both. Letters of acceptance will be
sent mid-April, 2018.

The Call for Papers is available on the website and the deadline for
submission of abstracts for communications and posters is February 28, 2018.
