Description:

Appen is looking for a linguistic project manager who can coordinate the work
of 2 - 3 linguistic consultants working on processing large amounts of
linguistic data to achieve high-quality output, and actively communicate with
our client’s development team.

Project Information:
- remote location   
- up to full time (40 hours/week) 
- project duration of 6 months   

 Tasks:
- Reviewing guidelines for speech projects involving text processing and audio
data evaluation
- Managing and overseeing the work of 2-3 linguistic consultants per language
- train linguists on client’s tools, docs and tasks
- assign work and coordinate schedules/timelines
- set deadlines and prioritize
- coordinate deliveries
- track progress
- solve or triage technical issues
- clarify language-specific guidelines
- provide general linguistic expertise
- Evaluating and analyzing data quality before delivery
- Consulting with client team, when needed

The responsibilities of the linguist teams will include:
- Text Proofreading
- Review of phonological inventory and phonotactic rules of given language
- Phonemic transcription and data annotation
- Evaluation of acoustic data - headphones needed

Requirements: 
- Native-speaker level of one or more language of the listed languages,
multilingual a plus
- Degree in Linguistics or Language-related fields with experience in
phonetics/phonology or speech technology
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Ability to quickly grasp technical concepts
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to details
- Previous project management experience
