Abstract:

„Der Physiker Leonardo Vetra roch brennendes Fleisch, und es war sein
eigenes.“ Das ist der erste Satz aus dem internationalen Bestseller
„Illuminati“ des US-amerikanischen Autors Dan Brown. Der Leser reichert den
Text um die negative Konsequenz an, dass der Wissenschaftler sterben wird. Der
Rezipient wird an den Text gebunden, bis aufgelöst ist, ob sich der negative
Ausgang realisiert oder nicht. Dass dem Physiker dieses Schicksal bevorstehen
könnte, steht nicht im Text. Dieser sogenannte Suspense-Effekt ist ein
Ergebnis mentaler Prozesse beim Lesen.

Auf der Grundlage der kognitionslinguistischen Textverstehensforschung werden
die Auslöser der wichtigsten Spannungstypen beschrieben und die Rolle dieser
Spannungstypen für die Kohärenz eines Texts charakterisiert.
