Description:
The Department of English seeks Instructor(s) to teach undergraduate courses
in spoken and/or written English to international students and to evaluate
their language proficiency.
Full-time Instructor teaches four (4) three-hour courses per semester, or
three (3) four-hour courses per semester for a total of twelve (12) hours per
semester in composition courses, ESL, and introductions to literary study.
Schedule and hold five (5) office hours per week to meet with students.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Masters in English as a Second Language and/or Linguistics and some prior
experience teaching ELS in higher education
- ITA (international teaching assistant) training
- familiarity with OPI (oral proficiency interview) technique; and/or
knowledge of Test of Spoken English/SPEAK scoring.
Ideal candidates will have evidence of outstanding teaching in ESL.
