Department: Linguistics and English Language
Job Location: Edinburgh, United Kingdom

Job Title: Future Leaders Fellow in Linguistics
Job Rank: Assistant Professor; Research Fellowship Application with Subsequent Assistant Professorship
Specialty Areas: General Linguistics
Description:
The "Future Leaders Fellowship" from UK Research and Innovation
(https://www.ukri.org/funding/funding-opportunities/future-leaders-fellowships
/) offers the opportunity for a research fellowship (i.e., full-time research
position) for 4 years + possible 3 additional years, which then turns into an
indefinite contract as an assistant professor (lecturer in the UK system) with
the possibility of further promotion (contingent on passing a probation
period). The Linguistics and English Language Department at the University of
Edinburgh (https://warwick.ac.uk/fac/sci/psych/research/language/) is happy to
consider supporting an application to a Future Leaders Fellowship. Linguistics
and English Language is one of three subject areas in the School of
Philosophy, Psychology, and Language Sciences and carries out research on
language and communication, broadly construed.
The fellowship is likely to be highly competitive. Thus, it is essential to
have publications in top-tier journals in linguistics or related fields, or in
prestigious multi-disciplinary journals, as a primary author (e.g., the first
or corresponding or last author), especially in recent years (2014 or later).
If you are interested, please send your CV to Prof. Nik Gisborne, the head of
Linguistics and English Language, at the application email below for further
discussion.
The Department must pre-select possible applicants by the 10 September 2018,
so please contact Prof. Gisborne as soon as possible. Then, the time line for
the main application to UK Research and Innovation is in the funding website
indicated above (key deadlines in October 2018).
Application Deadline: 10-Sep-2018
