Description:
Yale University, Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures, seeks a
Lector in Korean language, start date July 1, 2019 – June 30, 2022. This is a
3-year full-time appointment with renewal contingent on excellent performance
and sufficient enrollments.
Primary duties include teaching six courses or the equivalent per year, which
can be realized through teaching five term courses in the language sequence
with a sixth equivalent of effort in, for example, administration and course
coordination.
Applicants must have:
- Native or near-native fluency in Korean;
- A bachelor’s degree or the equivalent.
It is strongly preferred that applicants have:
- At least three years of experience teaching Korean in a U.S. university or
equivalent to heritage and non-heritage learners, using current teaching
methodologies;
- M.A. or PhD in second-language pedagogy, Korean language/linguistics,
applied linguistics, or other related field.
- Experience in curriculum development and incorporating technology in the
classroom is desirable.
- Research profile in foreign language pedagogy a plus.
