Description:
The Department of English and the Intensive English Institute award a number
of assistantships each year for students in the Linguistics and TESOL MA
degree programs. Most assistants teach either ESL in the Intensive English
Institute, or else first year college writing in the English Department, with
a few assistantships possible for research or administrative work for advanced
students. Considerable training and mentoring are provided for these
assistantships. Awards include a tuition waiver, (some fees excluded) and a
monthly stipend during the academic year. Assistants may apply for renewal for
an additional year. During the May-June summer session, a number of research
assistantships are also available. Anticipated workload is 20 hours a week.

relevant application website address below.

In the application, indicate your interest in applying for an assistantship in
the English Department or the Intensive English Institute or both.
The application deadline for Fall 2019 for full consideration for an
assistantship with admission is January 15, 2019. After that date, applicants
may be able to receive an assistantship if there are any left. The general
deadline is July 7, 2019 for fall admission.
