Meeting Description:
Section 12 ''Tense, aspect and discourse structure'' at the XXXVI.
Romanistentag
The interpretation of temporal discourse structure involves different kinds of
information: morphological form of tense/aspect, lexical information like
aktionsart, temporal adverbs, conjunctions, discourse relations (Asher /
Lascarides 2003) and, e.g., world knowledge and frames. Furthermore, textual
properties are of relevance: genre, position within a text, modes of discourse
(Smith 2003, among others). Stylistic factors also may be described
linguistically. The section focusses on the role of tense/aspect and specific
tense forms and their interaction with other elements and levels of discourse,
which are, beyond the mentioned ones, the temporal relief (Weinrich 1964),
perspective, individual reference, eventuality structure etc.
Call for Papers:
We welcome corpus analyses of particular problems, model-theoretical and
translatological contributions, but also experimental studies.
Abstracts should be submitted until 31 December 2018 via email (see above).
They should not exceed 3.000 characters incl. spaces and references.
