Meeting Description:
The Eleventh International Conference on Middle English (ICOME 11) will be
hosted by the Department of Languages Literatures and Cultural Studies at the
University of Florence (Italy), 5 -8 February 2019.
ICOME 11 continues the series of ICOME conferences held at Rydzyna (1994),
Helsinki (1997), Dublin (1999), Vienna (2002), Naples (2005), Cambridge
(2008), Lviv (2011), Murcia (2013), Wroclaw (2015) and Stavanger (2017). It
will cover different aspects of Middle English language, linguistics,
literature and texts, including papers on historical linguistic,
philological-textual criticism and literary topics.
The following plenary speakers have kindly confirmed their participation:
- Andrew James Johnston (Freie Universität Berlin, Germany)
- Alessandra Petrina (University of Padova, Italia)
- Merja Stenroos (University of Stavanger, Norway)
- Laura Wright (University of Cambridge, United Kingdom)
Call for Papers:
ICOME 11
Paper proposals should be between 350 and 500 words excluding references and
indicate clearly objectives, method(s), and results where appropriate. Each
paper will be given 30 minutes, including 10 minutes for discussion. Please
send your abstract by email to icome11 at unifi.it as a .docx, .rtf or .odt file.
Workshop proposals are welcome and should include a clear statement of its
objectives (about 300 words) as well as at least four names of proposed
speakers (with affiliations) and a sample bibliography. Workshop proposals
will be subject to review by our Scientific Committee. Please note that the
organizer(s) of a workshop session will be expected to solicit submissions,
advertise the session organize the reviewing process, and submit a complete
set of accepted abstracts by the main submission deadline.

Deadline for Submission of Workshop proposals: 1 June 2018
Deadline for Submission of the complete set of accepted abstracts: 15 August
2018
Deadline for Paper proposals: 15 August 2018
Notification of acceptance: 1 October 2018
