We are pleased to announce that the 2018 annual meeting of the Linguistic
Association of Canada and the United States, the 45th LACUS Forum, will be
held Monday July 23 – Friday July 27 at Boston College in Boston,
Massachusetts, USA, in conjunction with the 2018 International Systemic
Functional Congress (ISFC).
The conference theme for LACUS 2018 is ''Expanding Resources and Making
Connections.”

2nd Call for Papers:
LACUS invites proposals for papers on the theme ''Expanding Resources and
Making Connections'' The theme invites the presentation of research on a broad
range of issues, including the ways in which technology and new developments
in linguistics are changing the field and recent advances in establishing
connections between language research and social life. LACUS considers
abstracts representing a broad range of approaches to language, including
interdisciplinary topics and innovative ideas. Abstracts on all topics in
linguistics, even those unrelated to the conference themes, are welcome.
Abstracts must be submitted online.

Under certain conditions, LACUS permits authors who cannot travel to the
conference to present via a real-time ('live') video connection. (LACUS
membership and conference registration are required).
Abstracts can be written in either English or French.
The Presidents' Prize, which includes a cash award of US $500, will be awarded
at the LACUS conference Banquet to the most outstanding paper presented at
this year's LACUS conference by a younger scholar. A runner-up prize, with a
cash award of US $100, is given to the next-best paper by a young scholar.
