Focus: The 5th LinC Summer School offers an introduction to Systemic Functional Linguistic theory and experience applying it to real-world challenges. This year the summer school will focus on register and context and includes a statistical approach to register studies course as well as numerous special interest programs.

Programme:
The summer school offers a morning course and an afternoon session. There are
three morning courses on offer, and these will continue as a course for the
week. Afternoon sessions can be selected separately for each day. Once you
select a morning course in the registration system the course will be selected
for the entire week. Afternoon sessions can be selected individually for each
day. Participants at the summer school are encouraged to submit an abstract
for a poster presentation session that will be held at the start of the summer
school as part of LingUnite. This is a free event that you can register for as
part of the registration system. See website for schedule.

Registration and the poster session on the Monday will be in Couvenhalle and
classes and all other events from Tuesday – Friday will be held in the
SemiTemp Building.
Accommodation:
There are many different accommodation options available in Aachen, including
sharing with our local student and staff members, who have made rooms
available. If you would like to take part in this option, please email
lingunite at rwth-aachen.de with the subject line re: share accommodation.
If you prefer to find your own accommodation, you can search online using
various websites. There are a full range of rooms available around the city
and within a short distance from the university.

Tuition: 190 EUR
Tuition Explanation: The early bird registration fee for the summer school is €190 and the standard
fee is €210. Please note that registration will end at the end of July or when
full, and early bird registration will close at the end of May. The fees are
set to cover the cost of running the summer school only and cover
administration costs and the travel and accommodation costs of the teaching
team.

Registration Instructions:
You do not need any special documentation to complete the registration form.
All information regarding visa applications can be found on the website. You
will have several options for payment including payment online using a credit
card on our secure site that you will get to once you have been through the
registration form. Places are limited so please register early. Once
registration is full, we do keep a waiting list and we will make one available
as soon as registration is full.
The registration fee does not include lunch. There are many cafes and shops
nearby where you can buy lunch or if you are in self-catering accommodation,
you will have the facilities there to make your own food. There is a
supermarket (food shop) right beside the university.
