Subject: New MA in Computational Linguistics at Stony Brook

The Department of Linguistics at Stony Brook University is delighted to
announce its new MA Program in Computational Linguistics. This 3-semester
program is aimed at students from linguistics, computer science, cognitive
science, and neighboring fields who wish to pursue a career in industry or are
interested in computational research in linguistics.

The program combines applied and theoretical approaches to computational
linguistics. The curriculum covers core competencies in programming,
algorithms, data structures, data science, NLP, machine learning, and formal
language theory as well as core competencies in theories of grammar such as
phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics. This multi-disciplinary approach
is carefully designed to ensure both the short-term and long-term success of
graduates in this rapidly moving field.

Further information is available at:

We will be reviewing applications for Fall 2018 on a rolling basis starting
March 1. The final application deadline is April 15.

Questions may be addressed to Prof. Thomas Graf at t.graf at stonybrook.edu
