Description:
The Slavic Institute of the University of Cologne invites applications for the
position of a Student Assistant (Studentische Hilfskraft, SHK) for 19
hours/week for the project “A corpus study of mouthing and fingerspelling in
Russian Sign Language: description and implications for cross-modal contact”.
Your RESPONSIBILITIES include: 
- working with the Russian sign language corpus
- assistance with the sign language data elicitation 
- sign language data annotation with ELAN
- organizing an international workshop with participants from the project
countries (booking flights, hotels, catering, etc.).
Your PROFILE :
- you are a BA or MA student in Germany
- very good Russian skills (German and/or English is of advantage)
- Russian sign language skills, or basic knowledge of any sign language, or the willingness to learn sign language
- experience or interest in sign language linguistics 
- experience with ELAN and statistics (R) are a plus 
- team player with good time management and communication abilities 
- ability to work independently, efficiently and target oriented
We seek a skilled and motivated student assistant on the basis of 19 hours per
week for an initial period of 6 months with the possibility of extension. We
offer flexible working conditions in an ambitious and friendly team. Students
must be enrolled in a relevant Bachelor or Master Study program in Germany.
Students from Humanities, Computer Sciences and neighboring fields are welcome
to apply. Deaf candidates will be preferred.
