Description:

Our Natural Language Understanding (NLU) team is currently looking for an
Italian-speaking computational linguist as a contractor. Candidates should be
available for 20-40 hours per week, ideally during European business hours;
the job can be done remotely, but if candidates prefer, they may also come
into a Nuance office. The job will consist of extending and improving our
Machine-Learning-based NLU projects by developing grammars and lexical
resources, by correcting annotated data, and by tuning the system or tools in
other ways. 

Tasks: 
- Building up language-specific resources to be used for Speech Recognition
software 
- Developing grammars for Natural Language Understanding 
- Enrich the coverage of data or dictionaries 
- Working on Machine Learning models for NLU, including training, evaluation
and error analysis 
- Text manipulation and data processing 
- Localization of data, online surveys, etc. into Italian 

Requirements: 
- Bachelor or Master in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics,
Computational Linguistics or other relevant technical field 
- (Near-)native speaker of Italian 
- Solid Unix skills (bash) 
- Sound knowledge of regular expressions and a scripting language (e.g.
Python) 
- Familiarity with version-control software (git, svn) 
- Background knowledge or some experience in NLU or supervised Machine
Learning 
- Fluency in English (written and oral)
