Meeting Description:
The Instituto Universitario de Lenguas Modernas y Traductores (IULMYT), with
the
support of the Faculty of Philology and the Department of English Studies at
Complutense University of Madrid, is pleased to announce the ''XVI Complutense
Translation Conference (“Encuentros Complutenses en torno a la traducción)
PaCOR
2018 (Complutense Translation Conference)'', an international event which will
be held in the Ciudad Universitaria Campus, (Madrid) on 5, 6 and 7 November
2018.
In addition to the traditional studies on translation/interpreting in general,
this year the conference will focus on the role of corpora in translation and
interpreting studies. The conference will run in parallel to the International
Symposium on Parallel Corpora: Creation and Applications (PaCOR 2018),
dedicated to studies on the creation, annotation and exploitation of parallel
and comparable corpora for a wide range of theoretical and applied purposes.
Keynote Speakers:
We are delighted to announce that the following speakers have accepted our
invitation to give plenary lectures at the conference & symposium:
- Erich Steiner (Universität des Saarlandes)
- Ana Frankenberg- García (University of Surrey)
- Gloria Corpas Pastor (Universidad de Málaga)
- Ruslan Mitkov (University of Wolverhampton)
Call for Papers:
Conference Themes:
We welcome submissions addressing the central focus of the conference along
the
following (but not limited) research strands:
1. Corpus use in translation/interpreting theory, practice and didactics
2. Literary translation
3. Corpus use in specialized translation
4. Corpus use in bilingual (e-)lexicography and terminology
5. Corpus-based contrastive studies
6. Corpus use in foreign language learning/teaching
7. Intercultural studies and multilingual communication using corpora
8. Translation technologies and corpora
9. Creation, annotation and exploitation of comparable and parallel
corpora, including learner corpora
A selection of papers based on contributions presented in this conference will
be published in a special issue of an international journal and/or a
prestigious academic publisher.
