Meeting Description:

The Polish Cognitive Linguistics Association (PCLA) and the Faculty of English
at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań are pleased to announce the 2018
annual PCLA conference, Cognitive Linguistics in the year 2018, to be held in
Poznań, 24 – 26 September 2018. We would like to invite you to submit papers
and posters for the conference. The leitmotif of the conference is Multimodal
Patterns in Cognition and Communication. The conference will be preceded by
Empirical Methods in Linguistics Workshops on 23 September 2018 designed for
PhD students. Scholars at more advanced stages of their careers are also
welcome.

PCLA conferences provide a forum for high-quality research in Cognitive
Linguistics. In addition, the upcoming PCLA conference will host a panel of
experts discussing the status of multimodal constructions in developing models
and empirical testing.

Theme Sessions

In addition to the general session, PTJK2018 will host four theme sessions: 

- Cartoons and Comics
- Modification of Events and States: Theoretical and processing approaches
- Cognitive Grammar: Grammatical patterns as patterns of meaning
- Cognitive Linguistics in Pedagogical Application

- Anatol Stefanowitsch, Freie Universität Berlin
- Johanna Kissler, University of Bielefeld

The conference will be held in the buildings of Collegium Novum (al.
Niepodległości 4) and Collegium Chemicum (Ul. Grunwaldzka 6), both in the city
centre of Poznań.

In response to enquiries the deadline for submitting the abstracts is extended
till 11 March 2018.

Submission Guidelines:

Please submit your abstract of 300-500 words (including references) by March,
11 2018.
Abstracts should be submitted in English or Polish.

Your abstract should clearly state the scope and aims of your research, the
methodology applied, the (expected) results, etc. Above all, it must be
evident that your research lies within the cognitive linguistics enterprise.

Please do not include your name and affiliation in the abstract. Avoid making
direct references to your own previous work or indicating the authorship of
the abstract in any other way. If you need to refer to yourself, please use
“AUTHOR” instead of your name. If the abstract you are submitting is for a
particular theme session, please include this information at the top of the
abstract, e.g. ABSTRACT FOR THEME SESSION ''TITLE OF SESSION''.
