Focus: The University for Foreigners of Siena offers the intensive course “Sociolinguistics today: methods for the analysis of ancient and modern languages”. The course (open to advanced students of linguistics) aims at providing the participants with instruments and notions for sociolinguistic analysis. Lessons will be taken in Italian and English.
Minimum Education Level: No Minimum


Description:
The course (32 hours in total) will be articulated into 8 modules managed both
by specialists in ancient languages and by specialists in modern languages.
Particular attention will be devoted to the theoretical frameworks for
sociolinguistic analysis, as well as to the influence on the research
methodology by the nature of the linguistic data (necessarily conveyed by
written materials, e.g., in the study of the past).

Rome), Franco Fanciullo (Univ. of Pise), Brian Joseph (Ohio State University),

degli Studi IUL – Florence)
