Description:
The University of Konstanz has been successful in the German Excellence
Initiative since 2007.
The Department of Linguistics at the University of Konstanz invites
applications for a W3-Professorship (permanent position) in English to be
filled by 1 April 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter.
The ideal candidate has documented research and teaching expertise in English
linguistics and a research focus in a core area of linguistics, preferably in
phonetics, phonology or morphology. Preference will be given to applications
that complement and extend the research topics of the department.
The candidate should be qualified at the level equivalent to Habilitation, as
testified for example by a second monograph, an excellent publication record,
presence at internationally competitive conferences, fellowships or awards.
Teaching will be in the areas of English and General linguistics (BA/MA and
PhD level) and will also involve English teacher certification exams
("Staatsexamen").
The Department of Linguistics is an active research department and the
candidate is expected to acquire research funding. Cooperation with existing
and planned research proposals at the department is also expected. Information

engage in collaborative research with colleagues in neighboring disciplines.
