Meeting Description:

The 21st century is the century of information and, therefore, assuring
language learning and digital competence development for everyone is an
essential priority in the context of international education policies.
Accordingly, the fundamental objective of this International Conference will
consist in reflecting on the so-called ‘language gap’ (Johnson & Zentella,
2017) as well as the ‘digital gap’ (Hargittai, 2010). These two phenomena are
caused by the economic disparities derived from the global crisis, and they
both affect negatively certain population groups, especially those suffering
from unemployment in Andalusia. In this light, the latest trends in second
language teaching and learning processes on the international scene and their
corresponding best practices will be addressed in this 1st International
Conference on Language Gap and Digital Competence: Challenges for the 21st
Century, mainly dealing with aspects related to language gap and digital gap,
digital competence, accessibility and the use of ICT in second language
teaching.
