Focus: The aim of the Summer School of Linguistics is to give an opportunity to students and young researchers who are interested in language and its use to get acquainted with the range of current achievements in linguistic research. The lectures usually cover various research fields such as the first and second language acquisition, psycholinguistics, typology and language contact, corpus linguistics, neurolinguistics, phonetics, etc.
The Summer School of Linguistics aims also to have an important social impact. In other words, it should be not only a place where one can get useful information of the current state of linguistics but also a place where people interested in language and its use meet, discuss various issues and possibly start to collaborate on various future projects.
Minimum Education Level: No Minimum
Special Qualifications:
Anybody interested in language and its used is welcome at the Summer School of Linguistics. But since there is typically a higher number of applicants than is the capacity of the Summer School, we would like to ask you to include a short motivation letter to the application (max. 1000 characters).
Description:
The school takes place every August in a small city in the Czech Republic
(2007–2015 it took place in Dačice, 2016–2017 in Litomyšl, 2018 in Kroměříž).
Lectures and workshops are mostly designed as an extensive introduction to a
given topic so there is no need for prior knowledge of any of the topics. All
lectures and workshops are in English (since 2014).

Tuition: 0 EUR
Tuition Explanation: Participants who come for the whole school and who would register with
accommodation do not pay any extra participation fee. Participants who would
like to arrange their own accommodation or would like to come only for few
days do have to pay a participation fee of 500 CZK (about 19 EUR). Precise

Registration Instructions:
To apply for the Summer School, please fill out the form which you can find on
the official website of the school. The applications are accepted starting
March 3 until April 15. You will be informed about your acceptance before the
end of April. In case you are accepted, you will have to pay to finish your
registration (see below). Those who are not accepted in the first round will
be put on the waiting list and will be invited to register if some of the
accepted applicants do not register in time.
