Subfield Challenges are Heating Up!
Hello again linguists and supporters! We recently passed the 25% mark on
reaching our Fund Drive goal, thanks to all of you. Here's your update on the
Fund Drive challenges. As you can see, the subfield challenges are pretty
close!
Subfields Challenge:
Computational Linguistics maintains a very tight lead with $1575--for now!
Syntax, however, has really closed the gap since Tuesday, now standing at
$1535! Look out Comp Ling!
And finally Sociolinguistics still holds third place with $1255.
University Challenge:
The University challenge's top 3 remain the same as last week.
Stanford University's total donations of $1370 from 20 donors keeps them in
the lead.
University of Washington remains in second with a total of $1255 from 14
donors.
Arizona State University remains in third with a total of $500 from 1 donor.
Since the top 3 are the same as Tuesday, let's look at some of the other
competitors--University of Kaiserslautern has just appeared close to the top,
and is tied with University of Oslo, The Ohio State University, and University
of California, Santa Barbara--hello there in South Germany!
Region Challenge:
North America has again stretched into the lead with 110 donors--the first
region to break 100!
Can Europe close the gap, standing now at 43 donors?
Asia follows with 9 donors.
Country Challenge:
The US has established a comfortable lead--for the time being!--with 91 total
donors.
Germany comes in second with 13 donors.
Austria has hopped ahead of Canada, with 6 donors.
For all subfields, Universities, Regions, Countries, for understudied
languages, for up-and-coming students, linguistic representation in media, and
the important research all of you do--thanks so much for your support!
