Meeting Description:
The year 2018 is the 40th anniversary of China’s reform and opening up, which
highlights a good moment to draw on historical achievements and to expect
bright prospects.
MCSTTP (Midwest China Symposium on Translation Theory and Pedagogy) has been
developed with the implementation of China’s national strategies of “The Belt
and Road Initiative”, “The Yangtze River Economic Zone” and “Chinese culture
goes global”. Over the past decades, MCSTTP has been dedicated to advancing
research on translation theories and pedagogy in the Midwest China and to
strengthening the collaborative innovation of translator training and
interpreting programmes across governments, universities, enterprises,
research institutions and other stakeholders.
The 13th MCSTTP Conference, to be held at Wuhan University of Technology on
20-21 October 2018, will serve as a platform from which to enable translator
and interpreter trainers, professionals and academics alike, to exchange ideas
about the retrospect and prospects of translation theory and pedagogy within
the context of the 40th anniversary of the China’s reform and opening up
policy.
Call for Papers:
MCSTTP welcomes proposals for papers, panels and workshops for its 13th
Conference. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. 40th Anniversary of Reform and Opening Up: The Retrospect and Prospects of
Translation
2. Cultural Confidence and Cultural Awareness in Chinese-English Translation
3. Current Trends and Development of Language Service Industry
4. New Technologies and New Media in Translation and Interpreting (T&I)
Pedagogy
5. New Theories and New Perspectives on Translation
Language
Chinese (Mandarin) and English

Submission Guideline:
Proposals should include the following information:
- An English abstract of less 300 words and up to 5 keywords, including title,
author’s name and affiliation, email address, and contact number
- Indication of the type of presentation (a 15-minute session)
- An author’s professional biography inclusive of a photo (100 words max.)
Please submit your complete abstract, biography and photo through
WUTGJHY at 163.com no later than July 10, 2018. All the submission will go
through a rigorous double-blind review process. The results of acceptance will
be announced prior to September 7, 2018, including a formal invitation letter.

Registration Fees (Registration: 8am-9pm on October 20, 2018)
700 yuan (RMB) for each participant (50% discount for postgraduates and
undergraduates).
The registration fee does not cover the accommodation, transportation, meals,
etc. The Conference Committee will also provide affordable accommodation
