Description:
The Modern Language Association’s office of bibliographic information services
seeks a linguistics indexer to index, edit, and proofread linguistics
materials for the MLA International Bibliography.
Responsibilities
- Indexes publications related to linguistics material
- Assists in maintaining records on periodical coverage and advises the
editor of the Directory of Periodicals on linguistics periodicals
- Advises the thesaurus staff on issues related to linguistics
Qualifications
- Advanced degree in linguistics (expertise in Romance languages preferred)
- Reading knowledge of at least one language other than English
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Organizational acumen
- Ability to work independently
This is a full-time, on-site position at the MLA offices in downtown New York
City. Salary is commensurate with experience. The MLA provides generous
vacation and sick time, flexible work hours, a 403(b) retirement plan, and
individual health and dental plans with no shared premium cost. Candidates
must be able to work legally in New York State. The MLA is unable to provide
relocation assistance.
