Meeting Description:
The Second Language Acquisition and Teaching Student Association cordially
invites your participation in the 18th SLAT Interdisciplinary Roundtable at
the University of Arizona. The Roundtable is an annual conference organized by
and for graduate students and faculty with interests in SLA. We also seek
projects that demonstrate collaborative research between graduate students and
faculty.
Call for Papers:
Submission Categories:
Individual Presentation:
30 minutes (20 minutes talk + 10 minutes Q&A)
A formal talk addressing original empirical research or an original
theoretical investigation. May include more than one presenter.
Panel Presentation:
75 minutes (20 minutes each + 15 minutes Q&A)
A panel of 3 presentations on a similar topic or theme. Presenters discuss
different perspectives on complex issues in second language studies.
Workshop:
75 minutes
A practical demonstration of a theory or an application of a pedagogical
method or research. Presenters engage and involve the audience through
experiential learning techniques. May include more than one presenter.
Projects-in-Progress Symposium:
5-10 minutes + small group discussions
A brief presentation of a research project in progress, followed by small
group discussions of individual projects. Presenters may be at any stage of
the research process and looking for feedback or guidance for future
directions.
Poster:
75 minutes
A visual representation of research. May include materials such as data,
graphs, diagrams, pictures, and text. May be a traditional paper poster or an
electronic poster format (presenter furnishes the computer). Audience members
will circulate the room to view and discuss presenters' work. (Poster session
is conditional on number of proposals received.)
