Metadiscourse across Languages and Contexts
October 18-20, 2019
Jilin University, China
Metadiscourse is a key resource in language, allowing the writer to engage
with readers in familiar and expected ways, and as such it is an important
tool with which interaction is studied in genres and contexts. It also
reflects linguistic differences between languages and contrastive rhetoric
between cultures. Given the growing interest metadiscourse gains, this
international conference investigates the use of metadiscourse across
languages and contexts. You are invited to submit proposals for individual
papers, colloquia, demonstration sessions and poster displays that address any
topic relevant to metadiscourse which include:
- Contrastive analysis
- Discourse/genre studies
