Description:

The Department of English of the University of Central Florida’s College of
Arts and Humanities invites applications for a nine-month, tenure-earning
position as Assistant Professor of Anglo-Saxon Literature and English
Linguistics, anticipated to begin August 2019.

Duties: 
The position entails a 3/2 teaching load consisting of both online and
face-to-face classes at the graduate and undergraduate levels, including
courses in Anglo-Saxon literature, the History of the English Language, and
Modern English Grammar. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain
a productive research agenda and to participate in service activities to
support the department, college, and university. 

Minimum Qualifications: 
A Ph.D. in English or a relevant field from an accredited institution by time
of appointment and successful teaching experience at the university level.

Preferences:
Preference will be given to candidates with a strong record of publication and
research and teaching interests in several of the following subdisciplines:
grammar; Icelandic sagas, Norse mythology, and/or Celtic literatures; digital
humanities; interdisciplinary methodologies; and online instruction. The
ability to teach broad literature surveys, introduction to critical theory,
and focused electives of the candidate’s design is also highly preferred.

- A writing sample of no more than 20 pages.

of reference and evidence of teaching excellence; the selected candidate must
provide official transcripts.
