Description:

Teaching Assistantships are available in TESOL/TLOTE, Linguistics, Spanish,
French, Chinese, and Japanese for the support of Master of Arts students
beginning study in Fall 2019 in the Linguistic Studies Program at Syracuse
University.

Language Teaching Assistants must have native-like command of the language
they teach. Outstanding applicants who are not chosen for a Teaching
Assistantship may instead be eligible to receive tuition credits toward the
completion of their coursework.

The Linguistic Studies Program at Syracuse University offers a US Master of
Arts degree in any one of six concentrations: TESOL/TLOTE; Linguistic Theory;
Logic and Language; Information Representation and Retrieval; Language,
Culture, and Society; and Language Acquisition. The time of study is one and a
half to two years.

The deadline for submitting an application for admission to the program is
Feb. 1, 2019, and application by this date is necessary if an applicant wishes
to receive full consideration for a Teaching Assistantship. However,
applicants may be considered after this date until all Teaching Assistantships
are filled. Admission to the Program is continuous; students are able to begin
in Fall, Spring, or Summer semesters. Note, however, that it is preferable to
begin in the Fall semester, given that courses which serve as prerequisites
for Spring courses are typically offered in the Fall term.

Consult the Syracuse University Department of Languages, Literatures &
Linguistics Graduate Study website at http://lll.syr.edu/graduate.html for
further details.

An application for admission to study in the MA Program is accessible here:
http://lll.syr.edu/linguistics/faq.html.

Please direct further questions to the Program’s general graduate advisor, Dr.
Amanda Brown at abrown08 at syr.edu.

Note: these are not free-standing teaching positions but are, rather, awards
to support students in a graduate program of study.

Application Deadline: 01-Feb-2019
