Meeting Description:

ICDELL is the first international conference hosted by the Department of
English Language and Literature (DELL), University of Management and
Technology (UMT), Lahore on 6-7 April 2019. ICDELL, a two-day conference, aims
to bring together keen researchers and innovative practitioners of theoretical
and applied linguistics and English literature to an interactive and
stimulating forum. During the last five years, DELL has gained a tremendous
international recognition for its thought,leading research culture and
outstanding academic output. Taking lead from this achievement, ICDELL is
expected to be a premier, vibrant and trend-setting event for both local and
international researchers because of the diverse and interdisciplinary nature
of its thematic focus. ICDELL is conceived:

- To underscore different methods, themes, and factors that intervene the
interface of language and literature
- To stimulate interdisciplinary research landscape by providing a platform to
explore ideas about literature and language along with other modes of artistic
expression related to the fields
- To encourage the conception and reception of innovative research
methodologies and analytical models for the study of contextual realities


Call for Papers:

ICDELL announces a call for papers with a focus on the theme of ''Contemporary
Trends in Linguistic and Literary Research'' in any theoretical or applied
area of linguistics and English literature. The researchers are expected and
encouraged to share and present the most recent trends, concerns and
developments in the suggested areas:

- Emerging issues in Linguistics

- Language and society

- Language planning and policy

- Language, media, and discourse

- Language acquisition and pedagogy

- Translation, interpretation and cross-cultural communication

- Postcolonial and post 9/11 writings

- Writings about environment, space, and place

- Literary adaptation and visual discourse

- Contemporary fiction, drama, and poetry

- Life and travel writings

- Women's writing

Research related to other themes than the ones mentioned above may also be
included depending on their relevance, quality and originality.

Abstract should be sent to: abstract.icdell at umt.edu.pk

Guidelines for Abstracts:

Abstracts should be written in English. Abstracts can only be submitted for
oral presentation. The abstract must not exceed the maximum 300-word limit.
The single paragraph abstract should be typeset in Times New Roman, 12pt,
regular, left-aligned (not justified) font with 1.5 line spacing. On top of
the abstract paragraph, write the topic statement in the centrally aligned,
bold, 12pt font. Below the topic statement, write the author’s/authors’ name,
affiliation, and the correspondence email. Give up to six keywords at the end
of the abstract.  For referencing, authors are advised to follow APA style
manual, 6th edition.

Notification of Acceptance of Abstracts:

Submissions will be reviewed by the experts selected by the conference
committee and the notification of acceptance or rejection will be sent two
weeks after the abstract submission deadline. Accepted abstracts will be
published in the Conference Abstract Book.

Note: Abstracts not following the guidelines will be rejected.

Abstract Submission Deadline: 15 December 2018

Notification of Acceptance/Rejection: 30 December 2018

Registration Deadline: 30 January 2019
