Description:
The Linguistics Program awards four teaching assistantships (TA/RA) to
applicants to the MA program in Linguistics or graduate students in progress
toward earning the MA. Anticipated workload is on average 20 hours a week.
Qualified applicants may be considered for a TA award which includes a tuition
waiver, (some fees excluded) and a monthly stipend during the period of
contract. The period of contract is one academic year. The awardees may
reapply to the TA/RAship for the following year.
Applicants must complete an application for Graduate Admission online at the
application website address below. In the application, indicate your interest
in working as a TA.
The application deadline for Fall 2019 admission to be considered for TA/RA is
February 1, 2019. General admission deadline is March 15, 2019.
The Linguistics MA Program at the University of Montana is an approved program
in the Western Regional Graduate Program (WRGP) of the Western Interstate
Commission for Higher Education (WICHE) from Fall 2019 admission. Subject to
continued WRGP policy at the University of Montana, legal residents of Alaska,
Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawai‘i, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, North
Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, or Wyoming admitted to the
Linguistics MA Program at the University of Montana will qualify for Montana
resident rate tuition. See the WICHE/WRGP website for details.
