Description:

The Department of English and Modern Languages at California State Polytechnic
University at Pomona invites applications and nominations for the position of
Assistant Professor of Educational Linguistics. Duties and responsibilities
include teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in general linguistics,
language acquisition, L2 literacy, and/or TESOL methods, with a possibility of
teaching one course per semester in First Year Composition for multilingual
speakers.  

The overall teaching load is four courses per semester. In addition,
successful candidates will be expected to provide student advising, pursue an
active research agenda, and engage in departmental, college, and/or
university-level service. 

Required qualifications: 
- Earned PhD in Educational Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, TESOL, Second
Language Studies, or a closely related field by the time of appointment; 
- Evidence of effective teaching; 
- Demonstrated ability to conduct scholarly work; 
- Demonstrated ability to work with ethnically, culturally, and linguistically
diverse student populations and to respond to the educational equity goals of
the University and its increasing international character.

The University seeks to fill the position by the beginning of the Fall
Semester of 2019.
