Assistant Professor of English
The Department of English at Coastal Carolina University invites applications
for a tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor of English with a
concentration in Discourse Analysis. The appointment will be effective August
2019.
Candidates who will add to the diversity of our faculty are especially
encouraged to apply. Candidates must hold a PhD in Linguistics or a related
field and have a college-level teaching experience. The successful candidate
will have a teaching and research agenda that reflects a multidisciplinary
approach to the study of language. Experience with distance education
technologies is also desirable as teaching assignments may include evening and
distance-learning courses. Teaching responsibilities will include courses in
the English Major and the Linguistics Minor with a primary focus on discourse
analysis and a secondary focus in one or more of the following areas: language
and gender, language in the digital age, ethnographic methods of language
study, intertextuality, or rhetoric.
Coastal Carolina University is a public comprehensive liberal arts institution
located just nine miles from the Atlantic coast resort of Myrtle Beach, South
Carolina. Coastal enrolls more than 10,000 students from 45 states and 58
nations. The University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the
Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award the baccalaureate and
selective master's degrees of national and/or regional significance in the
arts and sciences, business, humanities, education, and health and human
services, a specialist degree in educational leadership, and a Ph.D. degree in
Marine Science.
