Meeting Description:
The GRIALE research group is pleased to announce the upcoming International
Conference on Verbal Humor (CIVH), which will be held in October 23 - 25, 2019
at the University of Alicante (Spain). The GRIALE research group, which
promotes the conference, works on verbal humor and irony since 2002
(http://griale.dfelg.ua.es/). This conference means the closing of two of our
research projects (GENHUMID -FFI2015-64540-C2-1-P (MINECO-FEDER- y GRIALE
Observa -PROMETEO 2016/052, Generalitat Valenciana), and the progress of the
research project FIGURKID -FFI2016-76047-P (AEI / FEDER, UE). Further, we are
convinced that it will be also a great opportunity to bring together several
approaches to humor, to share knowledge on the latest research on the
linguistics of humor and to create new research bonds among the humor
scholars.
We are very honoured to announce the participation of the following keynote
speakers:
Salvatore Attardo ( Texas A&M University – Commerce)
Tony Veale (University College Dublin)
Victor Raskin (Purdue University)
Nancy Bell (Washington State University)
Helga Kotthoff (University of Freiburg)
Leonor Ruiz Gurillo (University of Alicante)
Moreover, in the different panels, we will count with the participation of
invited speakers such as:
Jef Verschueren (University of Antwerp)
Neal Norrick (Saarland University)
Delia Chiaro (University of Bologna)
Likewise, CIHV is also a great opportunity to bring closer research on humor
to the work of humorists, script writers and journalists. In this sense, a
roundtable is scheduled with the participation of the following invited
speakers:
Darío Adanti (cartoonist and illustrator)
Kap (graphic humorist and caricaturist)
Miguel Sánchez-Romero (producer of humorous audiovisual programs)
Dani Alés (stand-up comedian)
