Meeting Description:
The 5th Learner Corpus Research Conference will be hosted by the Institute of
Applied Linguistics, University of Warsaw, in Warsaw, Poland. It will be the
next in the series of successful conferences which took place in
Louvain-la-Neuve (Belgium) in 2011, Bergen (Norway) in 2013, Cuijk (the
Netherlands) in 2015 and Bolzano/Bozen (Italy) in 2017.
The conference is organised under the aegis of the Learner Corpus Association.
Its aim is to bring together researchers, software developers and language
teachers with a common interest in the use of learner corpora for research on
second language acquisition, as well as for the enhancement of language
pedagogy and language assessment. More specifically, the LCR2019 Conference
aims to showcase the latest developments in the field of learner corpus
research pertaining to such issues as: description of learner language
features and varieties, identification of tasks and learner variables,
transfer studies, creation of pedagogical resources and assessment
instruments, acquisition of language for specific purposes, development of
innovative annotations and search engines for learner data, Natural Language
Processing, data mining, automatic error detection and correction, as well as
promotion of links with other research methodologies and new statistical
methods of data analysis.
