Subject: Psycholinguistics: PostDoc, University of Leipzig, Germany
University or Organization: University of Leipzig
Department: Linguistics
Job Location: Leipzig, Germany
Web Address: https://linguistik.philol.uni-leipzig.de
Job Title: Research Fellow
Job Rank: Post Doc
Specialty Areas: Psycholinguistics
Description:
The institute of linguistics at the University of Leipzig is looking for a
recent graduate to join our institute for up to 6 years. (The exact duration
of the position is a matter of law, and depends primarily on the duration of
previous research positions, and so roughly on the time elapsed since
obtaining your degree.) The payscale is anticipated to be E13 TV-L
(http://oeffentlicher-dienst.info/c/t/rechner/tv-l/ost?id=tv-l-ost-2018i&matri
x=1)
While there are teaching duties (to the tune of 4 hours a week), the position
is intended to permit young researchers to qualify themselves for a (German)
professorship by writing a Habilitation, and so independent research is very
strongly encouraged.
The position fills a psycholinguistic shaped gap in the expertise of the
linguistics faculty. However, there are psycholinguists in neighboring
institutes, as well as at the nearby MPI for Human Cognitive and Brain
Sciences ( http://www.cbs.mpg.de/en). Nevertheless, your interests should not
be completely orthogonal to ours, but should overlap with them in some way
(i.e. you should be knowledgeable about and interested in some aspect of
grammar).
Duties:
- Teaching (4hrs/wk): BA/MA Methods Courses (Statistics, Experimental methods
in linguistics), and courses in the PhD program
- Advising of BA/MA theses
- Participation in the cooperative research projects of the institute
Requirements:
- Completed PhD
- Expertise in experimental methods for the study of language production or
comprehension
- Knowledge of statistics
- Knowedge of at least one core area of linguistics
- Internationally visible publications
To Apply:
Applications with CV, research and teaching statements, and a copy of the PhD
thesis, are preferentially to be submitted electronically (ideally in PDF
format), with subject line: "Post-doc position 206/2018", to the application
link provided below.
Please arrange for letters of reference to be sent directly to Greg Kobele
(gkobele at uni-leipzig.de).
The University of Leipzig cannot guarantee the privacy of documents sent
electronically. The severely disabled are encouraged to apply, and will be
given preferential treatment should all else be equal.
