Description:

The candidate will be able to cover the entire field of English Linguistics
both in teaching and research. Applicants are required to teach and carry out
examinations in all core areas of English Linguistics as part of our study
programs for BA and MA in British studies, for English teachers and for BA in
American studies.

The candidate's competence should cover the core areas of English linguistics
with a research focus on the empirical analysis of language structures and
their use in contemporary English. 

We seek applicants with a research focus in cognitive linguistics that
actively complement that of the current faculty. Experience in empirical
methodologies and statistical analyses is considered to be an asset. The
candidate's excellence has to be demonstrated by international publications in
established linguistic journals as well as an active research agenda.
Experience in raising research funds is desired.

Candidates are expected to actively participate in academic administration as
they will head the Linguistics group and will also cooperate in faculty
matters. The successful applicant should be willing to connect her/his
research to the university's research priorities.

Additionally, the candidate's responsibility also includes the expansion of
international co-operations.

Rights and obligations of the jobholder are within the Saxonian university law
(Sächsisches Hochschulfreiheitsgesetz, SächsHSFG) and the Saxonian public
service task regulation (Sächsische Dienstaufgabenverordnung, DAVOHS).
Applicants must meet the requirements of § 58 SächsHSFG.
