Assistant Professor: Human Language Technology
(HLT)/Computational Linguistics

The Department of Linguistics, University of Arizona (UA), invites
applications for a tenure-eligible assistant professor in the area of natural
language processing/computational linguistics. The position will start in Fall
2019. The ideal candidate is expected to be actively engaged in research in
the above areas, as well as to teach statistical NLP and other related courses
in our HLT Master’s program. The candidate must also be willing to help
develop the online Master’s HLT program and to regularly teach courses in that
program. The candidate is expected to maintain an active research program and
be prepared to interact with the larger UA Cognitive Science community. Other
opportunities for collaboration and engagement include the Computer Science
Department and the School of Information. We especially invite candidates who
contribute a computational perspective to existing foci of the Linguistics
department.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Linguistics, Cognitive Science, Computer
Science or a related discipline, and should demonstrate evidence of a strong
research program and teaching excellence. ABD candidates will be considered,
but the doctorate must be in hand by the start date. Candidates with a record
or potential for obtaining external research funding are also preferred.
