Position is full-time academic year, limited to 06-20-2020 with anticipated
renewal.

The University of Rhode Island seeks to fill a full-time, non-tenure-track
position at the rank of lecturer in French Language and Culture, beginning
Fall 2019. URI’s French program is communicative and proficiency-oriented. 

The successful candidate will join a dynamic and vibrant Department of Modern
and Classical Languages and Literatures comprised of innovative educators and
scholars devoted to working with our students so that they may achieve
ambitious proficiency goals and develop intercultural competence. The program
includes many professional dual major programs such as the International
Engineering Program, the International Studies and Diplomacy Program, the
International Business Program, and the International Pharmaceutical Sciences
Program.

The lecturer will teach beginning and intermediate courses. The lecturer will
assist the French section with program promotion, course coordination,
curricular enhancements and extra-curricular activities, and will pursue ACTFL
proficiency training. The duties could at times include coordinating the
beginning and intermediate language program and overseeing the work of
part-time instructors teaching in the program. Mandatory annual reviews are
linked to contract renewal and opportunities for advancement. The successful
candidate will have a full-time schedule in order to be able to adequately
address student, instructor and program needs, and will be expected to attend
meetings and other events.
