Linguistic Field(s): Applied Linguistics; Language Acquisition; Linguistic Theories; Semantics; Text/Corpus Linguistics

Call Deadline: 15-Apr-2019

Meeting Description:

The conference responds to a widely recognized need for an updated knowledge
base and innovative methodological tools in the study of temporal and modal
representations in a second language (L2). It aims to complement previous
research perspectives by providing a dynamic exploration of recent, up-to-date
issues in contemporary research. We expect that the outcome of this conference
will allow us to improve our TAML2 vision of linguistic theory, second
language learning, second language acquisition (SLA), language teaching and
the study of heritage languages. Both theoretical and pedagogical implications
of the research on acquisition and learning of TAM will be discussed. This
conference will also allow us to strengthen networks of scholars working on
SLA from different perspectives.

Invited speakers:

Dr. Alejandro Castañeda Castro, University of Granada, Spain
Dra. Paz González, Leiden University, The Netherlands
Dr. Akira Murakami, University of Birmingham, UK
Dra. Roumyana Slabakova, University of Southampton, UK

For any submission-related questions please email Lucía Quintana Hernández

Call for Papers:

Proposals for paper and poster presentations in any topic related to tense,
aspect and modality in L2 are invited. Special emphasis will be given to the
following ones:

(a) temporal and aspectual representations in L2;
(b) modality in L2;
(c) Corpus Linguistics applied to tense, aspect and modality in L2;
(d) pedagogical applications of TAML2 research findings;
(e) teaching aspect, tense and modality in L2;
(e) theory building.

Paper and poster proposals should not have been previously published. More
than one abstract per author can be submitted. All submissions will be
reviewed anonymously by the scientific committee and evaluated in terms of
rigour, clarity and significance of the contribution, as well as its relevance
to research on L2 temporality. Abstracts should not exceed 300 words
(excluding title and optional references). All presenters are invited to
submit their work for the Selected Proceedings of the Conference, which will
be published as a special issue by an international journal.

This year we are using the EasyAbs system to automate our workflow. To submit
an abstract, click on the following link:
