Description:
The Faculty of Education at Western University, invites applications for two
full-time faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor (probationary)
in the area of TESOL and Applied Linguistics with specializations in Teaching
Speaking/Pronunciation and Language Assessment/Testing. Rank and salary will
be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The preferred starting
date for these positions is September 1, 2019, but is negotiable.
Applicants must have:
- A PhD in Applied Linguistics, TESOL or related field
- A record of excellence in research in Applied Linguistics and TESOL
- Track record of publications in Tier 1 international journals
- Experience teaching students from diverse cultural backgrounds
The successful candidates will become members of the Curriculum Studies and
Studies in Applied Linguistics Academic Research Cluster, bring relevant
academic strength and collaborative abilities to the Faculty, and contribute
to the development, implementation and maintenance of the TESOL and Applied
Linguistics programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Teaching
duties will primarily include the development and delivery of TESOL and
Applied Linguistics courses within the MPED TESOL graduate program, as well as
graduate student supervision. However, teaching duties may also fall within
research intensive programs, and our Bachelor of Education program. The
successful applicants will be expected to maintain an active research program
and have success in attracting funding.

- A letter of interest;
- A curriculum vitae;
- A 1000 word outline of the candidate’s research program, including past
accomplishments and future plans;
- A 500 word statement about their approach to graduate supervision;
- A description of their potential contributions to the Faculty;
- A teaching portfolio which includes a teaching philosophy,
- A statement of teaching interests and evidence of successful teaching
experiences such as course evaluations;
- A Google scholar profile,
- The names and contact information of three referees; and
- A completed application form available at the application link provided
