Description:
The University of Virginia Department of Anthropology seeks to hire an
Anthropological Linguist for a one-year appointment as an Academic General
Faculty Member (Tenure-Ineligible) at the Assistant Professor rank. The term
of appointment runs from August 25, 2019 through May 24, 2020. The successful
candidate will teach three courses per semester including a large
undergraduate lecture course in Languages of the World and two other courses
on topics in general linguistics such as phonetics, phonology, syntax,
semantics, linguistic field methods, historical linguistics, or linguistic
typology.
A Ph.D. in Linguistics or another appropriate field is required by the start
date. Candidates must be prepared to teach courses in structural linguistics
that contribute to the interdepartmental Linguistics M.A. program and
undergraduate major, as well as to the Anthropology graduate and undergraduate
programs. Demonstrated excellence in teaching is also required.

be conducted electronically.
