Description:

Friedrich Schiller University Jena is seeking to fill a position as Professor
(W3) for German Linguistics: Grammar and Lexicon starting at the next possible
date.

Your professorship will cover German linguistics with a primary specialization
in grammar and lexicon in research and teaching. The successful candidate will
deal with simple and complex units from word level to sentence level from a
usage-based perspective. The application of data-intensive, empirical methods
such as qualitative or quantitative corpus analysis or experimental methods is
expected.

In addition to independent research in the areas mentioned, teacher training
is also an important part of the professorship. Proven experience or an
interest in linguistics in education is therefore also required.

The successful applicant will be expected to teach at undergraduate and
graduate level, and develop a research program with international visibility.
The successful applicant will teach in teacher-training courses, as well as in
the Bachelor and Master programs run by the Institute of German Linguistics
(German Studies, German Linguistics and Linguistics). Teaching language is
German. You will also be expected to play a decisive role in the forthcoming
revision of the structure and content of the institute’s degree programmes.

Experience in attracting external funding and grants is expected, as is
scientific visibility at a national and international level, leadership
competence and the willingness to participate in the development of
interdisciplinary research topics.

Applicants must have a postdoctoral lecture qualification (Habilitation) or an
equivalent record of high quality publications together with teaching
experience.

The Friedrich Schiller University is an equal opportunity employer, striving
to increase the share of women at the university. Therefore, we strongly
encourage women to apply. In case of equal qualifications, applications from
challenged persons are favoured. In case of a first-time professorial
appointment, employment will be on a tenure-track basis.

Please submit your application including documentation (cover letter,
curriculum vitae, certificates) wrapped in one pdf-file electronically to the
