Date: 17-Jun-2020 - 19-Jun-2020
Location: Ibiza, Spain
Contact Person: Vincent Torrens
Meeting Email: vtorrens at psi.uned.es
Web Site: http://www.romanceturn.info/balearic

Call Deadline: 15-Jan-2020

Meeting Description:

Facing Locality will take place during the Romance Turn in Ibiza-Eivissa. This
workshop intends to gather people working on any aspect of syntax that may
involve locality effects. Nowadays there are theoretical explanations that
assume that elements in the sentence are generated in situ and other
explanations that assume movement. In case of movement, we can find Locality
effects that restrict the interpretation of traces. All topics on any aspect
that might involve locality effects and its acquisition will be considered:
head movement, operator movement, Wh-questions, Relative Clauses, Pronouns,
Anaphora...

Call for Papers:

Papers are invited for oral and poster presentations in the area of the
acquisition of Romance languages. All topics in the field of the Acquisition
of Locality will be considered (head movement, operator movement,
Wh-questions, Relative Clauses, Pronouns, Anaphora ...). The best abstracts
will be published in the new journal ''Words'', a Journal on Language
Acquisition, Processing and Disorders.

Authors are invited to submit an abstract (in English) for review. No more
than two first-authored abstracts may be submitted. Abstracts must be at most
one page long on an A4 with one-inch margins and typed in 12-point font. An
optional second page may include data and references. Abstracts must be
anonymous. Please indicate if you wish to submit for the main session or the
workshops.

Abstracts should be submitted via e-mail as a word attachment to the following
address:
romanceturn at gmail.com

Please, name your word file with the first author’s surname (e.g., brown.doc),
