Subject: New Language Map of New York City
The Endangered Language Alliance (ELA) is pleased to annonuce the official
release of its new Languages of New York City map, featuring over 600
languages at nearly 1000 significant sites. Based on ELA's work with
communities over the past decade, the map is meant both as a representation of
a uniquely multilingual city and a step towards highlighting urban linguistic
diversity everywhere.
This is currently a print map (24'' x 36'', full color) and is available, for
a donation to ELA, with more information here:
http://elalliance.org/programs/maps/. At the moment, there is also a special
#GivingTuesday fundraiser on Facebook:
https://www.facebook.com/donate/679653635897149/.
For preliminary info on the ongoing effort to create a digital version of the
map, see https://languagemapping.org.
