Die STaPs ist eine Tagung von Promotionsstudierenden für
Promotionsstudierende. Im Gegensatz zu fachwissenschaftlichen Konferenzen
liegt der Fokus der STaPs nicht primär auf inhaltlichen Themen und
(Teil-)Ergebnissen der Dissertation, sondern auf dem Davor und Dazwischen der
methodischen Problemfelder. Weder fertige Forschung noch vorläufige
(Teil-)Ergebnisse sollen präsentiert werden. Deshalb richtet sich die STaPs
besonders auch an Promovierende in der Anfangsphase.

Vorgestellt werden empirisch orientierte Projekte aus allen Bereichen der
Linguistik (theoretische und deskriptive Linguistik sowie Psycho-, Neuro-,
Sozio- oder Computerlinguistik, synchron wie diachron). Das Programm wird
ergänzt durch Workshops, Gastvorträge und kulturelle Aktivitäten.

The STaPs is a conference by doctoral students for doctoral students. In
contrast to scientific conferences, the focus of the STaPs is not primarily on
the content and the (partial) results of PhD theses, but on the before and
during, the methodological problem areas. Therefore, the STaPs is particularly
aimed at graduate students in the initial phase of their PhD thesis.

Empirically oriented projects from all areas of linguistics (theoretical and
descriptive linguistics as well as psycholinguistics, neurolinguistics,
sociolinguistic or computational linguistics, synchronic as well as diachronic
approaches) will be presented. The program will be complemented by workshops,
guest lectures and cultural activities.


Call for Papers:

Bitte sendet uns eure Abstracts bis zum 15.01.2020 an
staps16wien.ifr at univie.ac.at und gebt jeweils an, ob ihr ein Abstract für
einen Vortrag, ein Poster oder einen Workshop einreicht. Eine Rückmeldung über
die Annahme erfolgt spätestens bis Mitte Februar. (Bitte beachtet, dass das
Einreichen eines Abstracts nicht als Anmeldung für die Tagung gilt. Die
Anmeldung muss bis zum 28.02.2020 über die Tagungshomepage vorgenommen
werden.)

Abstracts sollten (ohne Literatur und Beispiele) max. 400 Wörter umfassen.
Euer Vortrag sollte ca. 20 Minuten dauern, im Anschluss werden wir ca. 20
Minuten diskutieren. Dabei soll insbesondere auf methodische Herausforderungen
eingegangen werden.
Die Postersession beinhaltet eine kurze Präsentation von 5-10 Minuten pro
Poster.
Wenn ihr einen Workshop durchführen möchtet, in dessen Rahmen linguistische
Forschungs­methoden gemeinsam ausprobiert werden können, stehen euch 60-90
Minuten zur Verfügung. Sollte für euren Workshop eine bestimmte Software von
den Teilnehmenden vorinstalliert werden, schreibt dies bitte ins Abstract.
Die Konferenzsprachen sind Deutsch und Englisch.

English information about the Call:

Please send your abstracts no later than January, 15 2020 to
staps16wien.ifr at univie.ac.at and indicate whether you are submitting an
abstract for a talk, a poster or a workshop. Notification of acceptance will
be sent by the end of February at the latest. (Please note that submitting an
abstract does not automatically count as registration for the conference. A
separate registration has to be completed by February, 28th 2020 through the
conference homepage.)

- Abstracts should not exceed 400 words in length (excluding literature and
examples).
- The presentation should last about 20 minutes (plus 20 minutes for
discussion). The focus should be particularly on methodological issues.
- The poster session includes a short presentation of 5-10 minutes per poster.
- If you would like to hold a workshop during which linguistic research
methods can be tried out together, 60-90-minute slots are available. If the
participants need to pre-install any software for your workshop, please
indicate this in the abstract.
- Abstracts can be submitted in German or English, but please note that German
is the main language of the conference.
