Journal of Speech Sciences Issue 8.2
<http://revistas.iel.unicamp.br/joss>
Thematic Issue: Multimodality, segmentation and
prominence in speech
The Journal of Speech Sciences (JoSS) is an open access journal which follows
the principles of the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), meaning that
its readers can freely read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or
link to the full texts of any article electronically published in the journal.
It is accessible at <http://revistas.iel.unicamp.br/joss>.
This special issue will be dedicated to articles dealing with multimodality,
segmentation and prominence in speech, with special attention to studies based
on the analysis of both spontaneous interactions or those carried out on
experimental contexts.
We welcome papers that deal with:
- The compilation of multimodal corpora
- The automatic/manual annotation of gestures, posture, gaze and facial
expression
- The interplay between prosody, gesture, posture, gaze and facial expression
- Gestures, prosody and embodied cognition
- Multimodality among different languages/cultures
- Multimodality in intercultural communication and in L2 learning
- Prosody in sign languages
- How gestural and/or prosodic and/or segmental (semantic and syntactic)
and/or contextual aspects intervene in speech segmentation
- How gestural and/or prosodic and/or segmental (semantic and morphosyntactic)
aspects mark prominence in speech
- Applications of multimodal linguistic data/analysis in other fields
We invite potential authors to submit original, previously unpublished
contributions in the theme of the relations between prosody and multimodality
in speech. Submissions will be reviewed by at least two independent reviewers,
though the final decision as to publication is taken by the editors.
Contributions in English and French are accepted. In case of submissions in
French, abstracts and keywords both in French and English should be submitted.
In order to prepare the manuscript, please get in touch with Bruno Rocha
(bbruno791 at gmail.com) to have access to the JoSS article template. The
submission guidelines can be reached at the JoSS webpage
(<http://revistas.iel.unicamp.br/joss>).
