Call Deadline: 25-Dec-2019

Meeting Description:

In 2020, the 10th Conference on Language, Discourse, and Cognition conference
will be held from 1 to 2 May 2020 at National Taiwan University (NTU), Taiwan.
This conference will be hosted by the Graduate Institute of Linguistics,
National Taiwan University.

The CLDC aims to provide a forum for researchers interested in language,
discourse, and cognition to discuss new research findings, exchange innovative
ideas and share the approaches in these fields. Topics relevant to language,
discourse, and cognition as well as interdisciplinary studies stimulated over
the last few years have given rise to a growing body of critical findings,
making CLDC an important event in the field of cognitive linguistics in East
Asia.

Consequently, studies presented at the conference CLDC focus on the study of
languages from many perspectives, in order to enrich the dialogue between
different fields of cognitive science. As such, the main theme of this joint
conference is: CONVERSATION ANALYSIS AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE, referring to
the place language often finds itself in.

Call for Papers:

CfP Submission: https://easychair.org/cfp/CLDC10

General Theme: COGNITIVE LINGUISTICS AND INTERDISCIPLINARY STUDIES
The 10th Conference on Language, Discourse, and Cognition (CLDC 10) provides
an international forum that brings together researchers interested in
language, discourse, and cognition. The focus of CLDC 10 sets ''Conversation
Analysis and Artificial Intelligence'' as the main theme in the hope that we
can further explore various issues bearing on the symbiosis among cognition,
language and other disciplines. We would like to invite original abstracts on
topics dealing with, but not limited to, the following disciplines or
sub-disciplines:

Cognitive Syntax
Cognitive Semantics
Cognitive Pragmatics
Cognitive Sociolinguistics
Corpus and Computational Linguistics
Linguistic Typology
Cognitive Linguistics and Interdisciplinary Studies (Psychology, Neuroscience,
Biology, Cognitive Science, Social Science, Computer Science, etc.)

Special Theme: CONVERSATION ANALYSIS AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
The 10th Conference on Language, Discourse, and Cognition (CLDC 10) features a
special theme titled ''Conversation Analysis and Artificial Intelligence''. In
recent years, the development of new methods and tools such as artificial
intelligence (AI) allows for more possibilities to investigate languages.
Linguistics knowledge such as conversation analysis, on the other hand, helps
to design better and authentic conversations for machines. In view of the
importance and potential of this topic, the special theme of CLDC 10 invites
abstracts on research related to various aspects of CONVERSATION ANALYSIS AND
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE, including theoretical and/or applied and
interdisciplinary studies. Possible topics include, but are not restricted to,
the following:

Conversation analysis and studies
Conversation markers
Conversation and semantics
Conversation modeling
Conversation Recommendations
Conversational AI Deployment
Language Understanding (NLU / SLU)
Language Generation
Dialogue State Tracking
Dialogue Evaluation
Dialogue Data Collection / Datasets
Slot-based Conversational AI
Retrieval-based Conversational AI
Generative Conversational AI
Multimodal Dialogues
Contextual Modeling
Semantic Representation
Dialogue Representation Learning
