Call Deadline: 15-Jan-2020

Meeting Description:

This workshop aims to bring together linguists working on non-canonical
questions at the syntax-pragmatics-prosody interface. Studies that provide
experimental evidence of emotions in non-canonical questions as well as
typological approaches to the prosodic encoding of information structure are
particularly welcome.

Call for Papers:

One of the goals of the workshop is to investigate the relationship between
the prosodic and syntactic features of non-canonical questions, especially
those expressing surprise in comparison with rhetorical questions and
exclamation. We invite submissions addressing this question in French,
English, German, Finno-Ugric languages as well as in other typologically
different languages, but also more generally the interface between prosody and
syntax in expressive and questioning speech acts.

presentations
Deadline for abstract submission: January 15
