Description:

The Linguistics Concentration invites applications for a two-year Andrew W.
Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship in Linguistics beginning Fall 2019. Eligible
candidates must have received their Ph.D. in linguistics or a related field in
2016 or later. Research and teaching interests might include, but are not
limited to: phonology and/or semantics.

The Linguistics Concentration at Grinnell is an interdisciplinary program of
study consisting of an introduction to linguistics, intermediate courses in
syntax, typology, and Indo-European, an advanced course in language change,
and electives pertaining to language drawn from the wider Grinnell curriculum.
Our interdepartmental faculty come from the Departments of Anthropology,
Chinese and Japanese, Classics, Education, English, Philosophy, Russian, and
Spanish. Our concentrators major in anthropology, computer science, and
English or another language, among others.

The Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow will teach one core course per semester, the
introduction to linguistics and a course either from our existing curriculum
or of the Fellow’s own design.

Grinnell College is a highly selective undergraduate liberal arts college with
