Description:
The Department of Asian Studies at Williams College invites applications for a
full-time one-year visiting lecturer position in Japanese beginning September
2019. Successful candidates will teach four courses over two semesters, and
one sustaining course for the first year Japanese language students during the
January winter term. Depending on college authorization, this position could
be renewable for a second year. We welcome candidates who can teach all levels
of language courses.
Minimum requirements include:
- Native or near-native proficiency in Japanese;
- A graduate degree (Ph.D. or ABD preferred) in Japanese, linguistics,
sociolinguistics, anthropological linguistics, applied linguistics,
literature, cultural studies or any related field;
- Strong teaching experience at the college level; and
- Ability to teach all levels of language courses in close coordination with
departmental colleagues.
